Application process

SVA aims to support established social enterprises with ambition for growth and development. We support enterprising and innovative activity to increase organisational capacity, capability and/or financial sustainability, rather than project funding. SVA is currently focused on social enterprises which provide employment opportunities for people excluded from the labour market.

Any social enterprise looking for investment or support from SVA will be subject to rigorous due diligence and assessment to make sure they are the right match.

This page outlines the steps for applying for funding, including the necessary forms to complete and information to help you with the process. Please make sure you complete all parts of the process and answer the questions truthfully.

As part of the application process, you will need to provide us with a business plan. SVA, in partnership with Parramatta City Council, has designed a business planning guide and template to assist you in writing one.

Stage 1 Self Assessment

Please note if you are applying for project specific funding, such as the Youth Enterprises Partnership Project, you are also required to meet the self assessment criteria listed on the project’s page.

Each applicant must meet the following basic eligibility requirements to be considered for SVA investment or support:

  • Exist as an established enterprise with an appropriate legal personality which reinvests surpluses for a social purpose
  • Be located or operating/trading in Australia
  • Have appropriate management and governance arrangements in place to support an investment
  • Have a demonstrated commitment to equality and diversity
  • Be primarily focused on employment creation for people excluded from the Australian labour market.

If your application does not meet all the above points, it will not progress. Please click here to see what other support is available for you.
If you have answered yes to all of the questions, the next step is to complete the self-assessment form [PDF File Size: 36KB].

Stage 2 Expression of Interest

If you have answered NO to one or more of the self-assessment you will not be eligible for investment or support. Click here to find out what other support services are available.

If you have answered YES to all of the self-assessment questions you may be eligible for investment or support. Please complete an online expression of interest form.

Stage 3 Business Plan, Interview and Due Diligence

If your expression of interest form is acceptable, you will be asked to submit a business plan and meet an SVA manager for an initial interview. The manager will then decide whether to begin the due diligence process.

All social enterprises are required to present a business plan. To assist you with this, SVA, in partnership with Parramatta City Council, has developed a business planning guide and template.
