Social Ventures Australia (SVA) is a non-profit organisation investing in social change, by helping increase the impact and build the sustainability of organisations in the social sector.
We provide funding and strategic support to carefully selected non-profit partners, as well as offering consulting services to the social sector more broadly.
In the consulting division we support Australian non-profit organisations, social enterprises and funders (including philanthropists, corporate foundations and government) to maximize the impact of their work and accelerate learning. Our ultimate goal is to create a fairer more inclusive Australia. To achieve this goal we work with a range of organisations to strengthen their ability to address many of our most pressing social problems.
Our approach is to design customised, results-driven solutions including strategy development, program design and review, funding strategies, boards and governance reviews, and measurement and evaluations including SROI (Social Return on Investment). Utlizing our skills in analytics, diagnostics, research and facilitated group work, we provide fact based guidance to support critical decisions. With every engagement we undertake we aim to build deep relationships with our clients and to build the strengths of our client’s employees and organisational culture through the transfer of knowledge, skills and practical tools.
Position
We are looking for a dynamic, confident self-starter with exceptional analytical and communication skills to work as a Consultant. In return you will be part of a rapidly growing, exciting and diverse team, and an integral part of this unique business.
Responsibilities
Each Consultant’s responsibilities will vary from case to case depending on the needs of the client. Typical responsibilities include:
- Scoping client projects
- Conducting qualitative research and analysis through interviews with non-profit client staff, client beneficiaries, and experts in the field
- Conducting quantitative research and analysis of the non-profit marketplace
- Working with management and boards of client organisations
- Conducting financial analysis, including forward-looking financial projections
- Preparing clear and compelling presentation materials
- Facilitating and presenting analysis and findings; and
- Capturing and sharing knowledge both internally and externally
Qualifications
To be successful in this role, you must have at least three years experience working with a top-tier strategic consulting firm, blended with experience in hands on operations and business development and must be able to demonstrate experience with, understanding and commitment to the non-profit sector. You will also need a high tolerance for ambiguity, uncertainty and complexity, and will be self-driven and highly motivated.
