SVA Leadership Council

The activities of SVA are augmented through the operation of a National Leadership Council. The purpose of the National Leadership Council is to provide input and guidance to SVA on strategic funding opportunities and networks. It is an extremely valuable and high profile point of connection and leverage for our funding endeavours.

The Council comprises:

Robin Crawford (Chair) – Founding Director of Macquarie Bank and philanthropist. Chair of Goodstart Early Learning.

Kingsley Aikins – Senior advisor to the Worldwide Ireland Funds. Kingsley is based in Dublin.

Bob Bryan – Philanthropist and founder of Queensland Gas Company and PanAust Limited. Founding Director of Bryan Research Centre.

Chris Cuffe – Director of Third Link Investment Managers. Former CEO of wealth management organisations Colonial First State and Challenger Financial Services Group.

Norman Drummond – A leading Scottish business consultant, executive coach and social entrepreneur, following a lengthy career in numerous public leadership roles.

John Gerahty – Former Executive Director of merchant bank Hill Samuel. Former non-executive director of Macquarie Bank.

Gary Gerstle – Managing Director of Man Investments Australia, an alternative investment manager.

Jon Huggett – Advisor to social enterprises. Former Partner with The Bridgespan Group, the non-profit affiliate of Bain & Company.

Rob Keldoulis – Former Managing Director of Optiver Australia, an international arbitrage firm.

Hugh Mackay – Leading Australian psychologist, social researcher and writer.

Paul Robertson AM – Chair of St Vincents and Mater Health Sydney. Chair of Saint Ignatius’ College, Riverview. Former Executive Director, Macquarie Bank.

Basil Sellers AM – Businessman and philanthropist. Former Chief Executive and major shareholder of a number of organisations including the Linter Group.

Michael Traill AM – Founding CEO of Social Ventures Australia. Vice-Chair of Goodstart Early Learning. Co-founder and former Executive Director of Macquarie Group’s private equity arm.

Carol Schwartz AM (Chair) – Company director and philanthropist. Chair of Our Community, a social enterprise that provides advice and tools for Australia’s 700,000 community groups and schools.

Dr Rufus Black – Master of Ormond College at the University of Melbourne, ethicist and theologian. Former partner at McKinsey & Company. Chair of Teach for Australia.

Paul Bassat – Joint CEO and co-founder of SEEK.

Suzi Carp – Philanthropist and private investor. Previously involved with family business, Smorgon Consolidated Industries.

Ian Carson – Victorian Managing Partner of advisory firm PPB. Founder and chair of non-profit organisation SecondBite.

Andrew Fairley – Consultant at legal firm, DLA Piper. Director of a number of commercial and non-profit organisations.

Julie Farrell – Private investor and philanthropist.

James Kirby – Senior finance journalist. Managing editor of Business Spectator and the Eureka Report.

Jan Owen AM – CEO of Foundation for Young Australians. Former Executive Director of SVA. Founder and former chief executive of the CREATE Foundation, the leading advocate group for young people in care.
